Your information

Study Smart is used mostly by students in Years 11 and 12, which means a lot of you are under 18. This page says what we collect, what we do with it, and what you can tell us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be signed.

What we collect

We do not collect your address, your school, your phone number or your parents’ details. We do not sell any of it, and we do not use it to advertise anything to you.

If you are under 18

You can use Study Smart at 13 or older. If you are under 13 we will not open an account — the material is senior secondary and we should not be holding a younger child’s work.

The one thing that is different for a student under 18 is what happens if something you write suggests you are in trouble. Every answer passes a check for signs of self-harm, abuse or serious distress before it is marked. If that check fires, three things happen: the answer is not marked, you are shown the services below, and a named person at Study Smart is told — including that you are under 18.

We think you should know that in advance rather than find out afterwards. We are a study app, not a counselling service, and nobody here is watching an inbox overnight.

Who sees your work

Your answers are marked by an AI model. Where it is unsure of a mark, or where you tell us a mark looks wrong, the answer goes to the editor who wrote the course — a contracted teacher — so a person can settle it. Nobody else sees your work, and other students never do.

Getting your data, and getting rid of it

You can download everything we hold at any time, from your account page, as a file you keep.

There is no waiting period and no way for us to undo it. When it is gone it is gone, which is the point.

If you need to talk to someone

This page describes what the platform actually does, in as few words as it can. The full Privacy Policy says the same things at length, along with the other three documents — Terms, Refunds and Acceptable Use. Where this page and that one ever disagree, the fault is here and we want to know.
